Updated (due to hurricane Irene) Directions: Click here for a google flood map of VT

From New York City: By train from Penn Station to Castleton, VT (4.5 hrs) (call ‘1-800-USARAIL’ for reservation on the Ethan Allen Express or visit Amtrak's website) , we can arrange shuttle or cab to Brandon (1/2 hour). By air: There are several daily flights from NYC airports to Burlington,VT, about 1 1/2hr drive away. There are also non-stop flights from Nyack to Lebanon, NH, about 1 1/4hr drive away. To fly to Rutland, VT, (about 20 minute drive away), you would need to connect in Boston.
By car (about 4 1/2 hrs from Jct.I-287&87/Suffern,NY): I-87 north to Albany, Follow I-87 toward Montreal to Lake George exit 20, take Rt.149 to Fort Ann, Rt.4 through Whitehall, NY to Rutland,VT, then Rt.7 north to Brandon. My favorite alternative is to get onto Taconic Parkway (but watch your speed there - 65 mph or less!) all the way to I-90, east a few miles to Rt.22 north, which will join with Rt7 east for a couple of miles, stay on Rt7 into VT, where it will turn into limited access highway several times. Rt.7 north all the way to Brandon, only one small detour just before Rutland due to a collapsed bridge. This should take about 4 1/4 hours once you get to the Taconic.

From Pittsfield, MA: By car(2 hrs), follow Rt 7 north to Brandon (or a little faster: take Rt 22 north, Rt 7 east to Bennington and Rt 7 from there north to Brandon.)

From Boston and points east:: By car I-93 north to I-89 either all the way to WRJ,VT and then south on I-91 or (I-89) to RT 103 west through Claremont,NH joining Rt12 into VT , look for I-91 south (exit 8) to exit 7 (Springfield), then Routs11,106 &10 north on Rt.103 to Rutland and Rt7 (probably about 4 hrs from Boston). A great alternative is to take Rt.2 west all the way to I-91, then north to 103 (exit Rockingham) to Rutland.(maybe a little less than 4 hors)....or even better Rt.2 west to Rt.140 north from Gardner to Winchendon, MA, then Rt.12 north through Keene,NH, then it gets a little tricky: look for a left turn onto Rt123 west just past Walpole NH, cross the river into Vermont, then right onto Rt.5 north, about a mile further signs should appear for a sharp left toward I-91(exit5), take I-91 to exit 6 (Rockingham) and pick up Rt103 to Rutland (probably 3 1/2 hrs) By air: There are 3 daily flights (1hr) on 'Cape Air' from Boston to Rutland, a 30 minute drive from Brandon.

From Northampton, MA: Take I-91 to Rockingham, VT (exit 6), follow Rt 103 all the way to Rutland and Rt.7 north to Brandon.

From Montreal: Rt.10 to Rt.35 to Ibervillle, Rt133 to I-89 to Burlington (1.5hrs) from Burlington follow Rt7 (1.5hrs) south to Brandon.

The Brandon Inn is located in downtown Brandon,Vt on Rt 7 north of Rutland at the junction with Rt 73.
